That Didn't Take Long: Frerichs Campaign Dismantles Shady Campaign Email Collection Tool

It wasn't but just a few hours ago that the Truth Team shined a spotlight on a shady - and non-CAN SPAM compliant - voter collection tool that the Mike Frerichs for Illinois Treasurer was using to lure voters into his web.

Here's a screen shot of where the tool was living on the sidebar of Mike's Wall.

And for those of you who don't remember the deal, here goes:  We were tipped late last night from someone who is close to Team Frerichs that a consultant named Nancy Kohn who was dealing with the Frerichs for Treasurer campaign was no longer involved with them.  And...that when you were agreeing to get emails from Mike, you were in fact, not.  Rather...you were agreeing to get emails from Nancy Kohn.  Weird, right?

Well...in less than two hours after we posted the item, the Frerichs campaign suddenly takes the whole thing down.

Now we're starting to understand why we're getting all these pageviews/sessions from Champaign and Urbana...

When You're Opting In To Emails From Mike Frerichs, You're Not...Really

We were sent this tip from someone close to the Mike Frerichs for Illinois Treasurer campaign.

It looks like the Frerichs campaign has some CAN-SPAM compliance issues with their email blasts and they need to do something about it before consumers file complaints against the campaign.  Or...it might be too late as someone may already have.

It turns out, that when you agree to hand over your email address to the Frerichs campaign for their email newsletter, you're not actually agreeing to give it to them.  Nope.

You're actually agreeing to give it to a woman named Nancy Kohn.  Check out what is listed on the Frerichs email sign-up:

Whoops.

The worst part?  Our tipster that is close to the Frerichs campaign tells us that Nancy Kohn dumped the Frerichs campaign and isn't even working with/for them any longer.

That just compounds things.  Not only are they fooling voters into who they're agreeing to get emails from,  they've listed a consultant that isn't involved in their campaign.

Things just keep getting weirder and weirder in Frerichsland.

David Diersen Dreams Big for GOPUSA Illinois

We caught everybody's favorite loveable wingnut/editor David Diersen day dreaming about his mistress - the GOPUSA Illinois daily emails.  In a story this morning, notes that Dave Cantanese sells TheRun2016.com blog to US News & Daily Report and wonders what all the toiling he does each and everyday to put out his email newsletter is worth.

$1 million dollars!  Our advice to David?  Get on the Twitters.  We'd love to get the "Full Diersen" with everything from his choice of breakfast cereals to his displeasure with waiting in line at the Wheaton Jewel.  (Remember...he *is*, a precinct committeeman who believes deeply in ALL of the planks of the ILGOP Platform,  people?!?!)
