What It Feels Like To Be Governor Pat Quinn *Right Now*

Busted!  Ohhh...Pat, Pat, Pat.  You were almost in the clear with your scheme to spread around taxpayer money to buy votes this fall.  But...those pesky spokespeople just can't get out of your way.

A TV ad is going to be worse than the jumbotron...

#IsItaCrime?!?

Exclusive Footage Of David Roeder, Governor Pat Quinn's Spokesman From DCEO

See him there?

Right behind the reporter?

That's right after the press picked up the fact that he said this:
But lately Mr. Quinn has authorized some big-money discretionary grants to companies that agree to expand in Illinois. Like Amazon, many had strong business reasons to add staff here without state funding. This month alone, the governor gave a total of $22 million to four Illinois-based companies. We’re talking direct transfers of state money here, not loans or tax credits.
I know what you’re thinking, because I’m thinking the same thing: The governor is giving away our money to generate favorable headlines about new jobs in Illinois a month before voters decide whether or not to give him another term.
The commerce spokesman acknowledges a halo effect. “In most cases, I think the timing largely had to do with the companies and when they were able to go forward,” he says, but adds, “We have a good story to tell — and do I want to tell it before Nov. 4? Yes. Is that a crime?”
Emphasis, ours.

We'd 'head for ze hills' too, David.

Question for Governor Pat Quinn: How Do You Create Jobs?

Answer: "It is easy."

The problem?  Those 'dollar, dollar bills' are yours - the taxpayer's.

Breaking: Footage Of Amazon.com Negotiations With State Of Illinois

We were just shared this breaking footage of the folks over at Amazon.com from late last week after Governor Pat Quinn brazenly shelled out taxpayer cash to make it look like he's generating jobs.

Can you blame Amazon?  Someone 'makes it rain' like Illinois Governor Pat Quinn does ahead of his re-election effort, don't you dance, too?

Exclusive Footage Of Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's "Job Creation Program"

Who would have thunk?  If it worked for Illinois Governor Pat Quinn to spread around some cash - YOUR CASH - to buy some votes in 2010, why wouldn't he try it again this time?

Shame on him.  But...if we vote to put this guy back in office next Tuesday, the shame will be on us.
“Pat Quinn is already under federal investigation for misusing millions in October of 2010, and now it looks like he’s pumped out half a billion dollars this month to boost his campaign once again. He’s throwing around taxpayer money in October in the hopes of raising your taxes in November. Throwing around more money in the last six days won’t change the harm Pat Quinn has caused Illinois over the last six years.”

Welp. We Guess Pat Quinn's "Vaunted" Digital Team Is Fooling Themselves

If you read the Sun-Times last month, you might have checked out the profile of the 'whiz kids' running Governor Pat Quinn's digital operation.  There's an interesting nugget in there about retargeting and how Quinn's team is taking a 'different' approach.
Hass points to the number of Rauner ads online, driven by cookies that follow people on the Web who may have visited a Rauner site.

From Hass’ point of view, it’s a wasteful tactic.
“Me personally, I’ve been inundated with Bruce Rauner ads for at least about a month now. I suspect if they keep up that pace they’ll end up spending hundreds of dollars advertising to me between now and Election Day,” Hass said. The problem with that: “I’m not one of their voters.”
Hass said the Quinn camp’s approach is more targeted. For instance, early on, the campaign connected with people who supported an increase to the minimum wage. After identifying those people, they recruited volunteers, and worked to expand their field campaign or social media presence. He also has learned it’s up to the campaign to educate voters who are looking up information on a candidate online.
Wasteful?

Well...a tipster sent us this screenshot of what they saw right here on the Truth Team...

What do you know....it was a Pat Quinn for Illinois Governor 300x250 display ad!?!

Which...was likely the result of retargeting or contextual targeting...

So...if this isn't 'wasteful', then these guys really think that someone who reads the Truth Team is 'one of their voters'?!?

Our reaction to their boast:

Bruce Rauner Doesn't Owe Anybody Anything....And That Scares People In Power

They knew it wasn't going to be easy.  But, once we elect Bruce Rauner next week, both Bruce and Diana Rauner say it will be 'worth it'.

Let's close this thing strong, Illinois.

Stand with Bruce Rauner and let's actually change some things here in Illinois.  Vote now if you can.

Governor Quinn Remains Evasive, But Plans To Raise Your Taxes

Asked on three occasions about his comments that a tax increase is certainly coming in November or December, including one directly from Bruce Rauner, and Governor Pat Quinn won't come clean.

As others have said:  the video doesn't lie.  Watch Bruce's reaction the third time and listen to the crowd groan as Quinn evades the truth once again.

Another Day, Another Failed Pat Quinn Program Turning Into Emerging Scandal

Over in the Chicago Sun-Times this weekend, the details of another failed Pat Quinn-lead program started to emerge.  And, just like with his failed and scandal-ridden NRI program, it seems that inept leadership and poor execution lead to (at best) the squandering of MILLIONS of taxpayers dollars and (at worst) potentially even more graft, corruption, and mismanagement.

You can read even more details from the team at Illinois Mirror where they break down the numbers, but this is the important part:
Illinois legislators created the Urban Weatherization Initiative in 2009, promising that as much as $425 million in taxpayer money would go to train an army of workers in predominantly African-American neighborhoods to identify and fix energy-efficiency problems in homes.
The initiative would put people to work in economically struggling neighborhoods statewide and help homeowners cut their utility bills, supporters said.
But five years later, the program has fallen far short of its goals.
That last line -  '5 years later, this has fallen far short of its goals' -  is a really great way to summarize Pat Quinn's tenure as Illinois Governor.

We've given Pat Quinn enough time.  Illinois should move on and give Bruce Rauner a shot at fixing this mess.

Pat Quinn's Promise To Voters: Elect Me And We'll Raise Taxes

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has broken his promise in the past on raising our taxes.  In fact, he was at the controls when Illinois income taxes almost doubled a few years back.

But...this time?  Pat Quinn isn't even lying about his plans:  he's flat out come out and said:  elect him and he's going to raise your taxes.  Again.  And...as early as November!

We think it is important for voters to know this much about Pat Quinn:  He's planning to a massive tax hike RIGHT AFTER the election.  He's admitting that it is coming.

We can't afford this guy to squeak by on November 4th, can we?

Latest Poll: Rauner Up 6% Over Quinn, Garnering 20% In Chicago

The latest polling data was released this morning on the Illinois Governor's race.  Featuring the responses of 1290 "likely" voters, it has challenger Bruce Rauner ahead of incumbent Illinois Governor Pat Quinn by 6%.

But...more importantly, it shows that Bruce Rauner's campaign is supported by 20% of voters in the City of Chicago.  20% is the so-called "Victory Line" for Republican candidates as past campaigns who have secured at least 20% of the Democrat-controlled voting block in the City of Chicago go on to win.

Rauner is working hard to set the record straight and is beginning to get his message about Pat Quinn not being the 'right guy' for Illinois through to voters.

Pat Quinn Said He "Intended To Be The Jobs Governor". SRSLY?!?

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn talked the talk when it came to jobs:  he said he "intended to be the 'jobs Governor'".

But...Pat Quinn didn't walk the walk when it came to jobs in Illinois:  Illinois lead the Midwest in jobs losses according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Oh...he *must* have been talking about "jobs" for his cronies and stooges over at IDOT, right?  That must be it.

Pat Quinn failed his job here in Illinois.  It is time for us voters to say that we've had enough.  Give him an early retirement and not four more years.

Pat Quinn Rolls Out Michelle Obama Radio Ad

We're not that high on the overall 1 minute radio ad, but the close is pretty strong:  'For this election, Barack and I are casting our vote, for our friend Pat Quinn.'

We don't listen to the terrestrial radio here at the Truth Team (We have Howard 100 on all day most days!), so we don't know who this will reach, but guessing it will get some women over on Quinn's side if they hear this.

But...the facts remain: Pat Quinn is ill-equipped to lead the State of Illinois back to prosperity.

Pat Quinn Stretches Truth To Pin Mortgage Biz Fallout On Rauner

The Chicago Tribune says that Pat Quinn isn't telling the truth to all of us voters on his latest attack on Bruce Rauner.

This company filed for bankruptcy in 2007, but Rauner's firm didn't have anyone on the board after 2005.  But...that little fact isn't stopping Governor Pat Quinn.
Quinn on Monday launched a new ad attacking a business deal of Republican challenger Bruce Rauner, though the dots the Democrat uses to attack the Republican don’t necessarily connect.
The new ad focuses on HomeBanc Mortgage Corp., which filed for bankruptcy in 2007. A narrator contends the bankruptcy came after Rauner “took millions out of” the firm, noted HomeBanc’s CEO got a $5 million “bonus” and 1,100 employees who lost their jobs “got a $20 gift card.”
The equity firm Rauner formerly chaired, GTCR, partnered in 2000 to create HomeBanc Mortgage. While GTCR once held a majority stake in the firm, it reduced its holdings after a public stock offering, selling the last of its shares in September 2006, Security and Exchange Commission records show.
GTCR’s actions came just months before the sudden financial unraveling of the mortgage company in 2007 led first to the January firing of CEO Patrick Flood, followed by an August bankruptcy filing. But GTCR had no board members on the mortgage firm involved in its management since 2005, prior to Flood’s firing and severance, and the bankruptcy filing. Records show Rauner was not a board member of HomeBanc in the lead up to its public offering in 2004.

Rauner Launches Vote By Mail Drive: "Quinn Won By Just 3 Votes Per Neighborhood Last Time"

Illinois candidate for Governor Bruce Rauner is out with a 'vote by mail' drive this week as one of our readers emailed us some photos of a ballot that was sent to his wife.

Specifically...to his wife.

Even though they're both typically Republican voters.  Not sure if that means Rauner senses an opportunity with women.  This tipster says his wife is a working mother who travels for work, so perhaps the Rauner organization is *that* sophisticated that they're able to target likely Republican voters who travel for work and thus might be on the road on election day?

That'd be pretty incredible, wouldn't it???

Anyway...The piece leads with the statement:  "In 2010, Pat Quinn was re-elected by less than 3 votes per neighborhood.  Don't let Quinn have four more years. Your vote by mail application is enclosed."

Inside was a tri-fold piece that had a "Pat Quinn barely won in 2010 - and we're still paying for it" message.  Followed by a section about Bruce Rauner and finally the vote by mail application.

From the piece:

Pat Quinn barely won in 2010 - and we're still paying for it.

Under Pat Quinn, Illinois is broken.

Quinn raised taxes on hardworking Illinois families and small businesses.  The results? Illinois leads the Midwest in job losses.  We are one of only two states in the Midwest to lose jobs this year.   And now Pat Quinn is embroiled in ethics controversies.

We can do better.  And we can start today.
