Over on Twitter, Congressional candidate Larry Kaifesh is getting hit with an ad that puts his photo right next to a 'terrorist' and calls into question his record on guns.
Could a Republican or Republican IE group get away with this type of connection drawing? Would there be outrage saying that this is a bit too far to go in politics???
Listen...we don't think guns are a very good issue for us as a party. We *get* that hunters and folks downstate and elsewhere want to have guns and that they lean on the '2nd Amendment'. That's all fine and good. But...when it comes to the suburbs, guns aren't going to win many votes - especially automatic weapons and such.
We can be 'for' recreational hunters and their weapons - and be true to the 2nd Amendment - but still come out and talk about limits on how many weapons, the type of weapons, and how long it takes to get one. Putting in safeguards and not giving someone who lives in the suburbs a weapon that can take down hundreds of people in seconds just makes sense.
But, that's not the point here. We really wonder: would there be outrage if someone put a photo of Tammy Duckworth or Shelia Simon in a photo with a terrorist?

Kaifesh Campaign Secures Congressional Endorsements In Battle With Duckworth
The folks over at the Illinois Review have been doing important work for all voters in the Western Suburbs as they've been all over the Larry Kaifesh campaign for the better part of the last year. They've chronicled every move as he's waged a good campaign to take on incumbent Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth.
This race hasn't quite broken through the chatter level in politics here in Illinois, but Kaifesh has waged a dignified campaign and is doing the right things to try to win in November.
The Illinois Review has been there every step.
Their latest scoop is that Kaifesh has picked up some endorsements from folks that know what it takes to do the job: fellow Illinois congressmen including Peter Roskam, John Shimkus, Randy Hultgren, Adam Kinzinger and Aaron Schock:
United States Marine Colonel Larry Kaifesh, the Republican Candidate for Illinois’ Eighth Congressional District, has landed the endorsement of members of the Republican Congressional delegation from Illinois, including Congressmen Peter Roskam, John Shimkus, Randy Hultgren, Adam Kinzinger, and Aaron Schock. He also announced the endorsement of Illinois State Senator Dan Duffy.
“Larry knows how to win big by winning in the neighborhoods, by being in the precincts, by talking to voters,” said Congressman Hultgren.
"Larry's distinguished military service career in both Iraq and Afghanistan and his deep roots in the district ensure he'll be ready on day one to fight for the issues Illinois families care about: good paying jobs, a stronger economy, and true healthcare reform that puts patients and their doctors in charge, not some government bureaucrat," said Congressman Peter Roskam. "Voters of the Eighth District should send Larry to Congress and send a clear message to Democrats in Springfield and Washington. Failed Democrat policies don't work for the Eighth District.”

Candidate Facebook Weekend: Rodney Davis, Judy Topinka, Larry Kaifesh, Paul Schimpf, Darlene Senger
We're back in the saddle here at the Illinois Truth Team and it is Monday, so that means we take some time to look around on Facebook and see what the campaigns have been up to the past few days.
Here are the highlights:
Congressman Rodney Davis walked in the the Mt. Auburn Farmer's Picnic Parade.
Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka hung out with some beauties and llamas.
Congressional candidate Larry Kaifesh 'suited up' in Gilberts. Pretty impressive.
Paul Schimpf was out in DeKalb County for their local Republican Party Pig Roast.
Congressional candidate Darlene Senger - along with a HUGE crowd - walked with the Kendall County GOP in the Montgomery Fest Parade.
And Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford went for a jog and spotted this cute deer.
