You'd think that the staff at Tammy Duckworth's US Senate campaign would catch something like this: the spelling of Baghdad on her announcement. After all, this moment is SOOOOOOOO central to the Tammy Duckworth story and campaign.
You'd think they'd spell the city where the incident occurred properly.
But...alas...they didn't get it right. From her campaign site comes this screenshot:
Fumbled announcement. Spelling errors. Seems like we're going to have plenty to cover on this race.

Tammy Duckworth Fumbles US Senate Rollout
All this 'yes she is', 'no she isn't', doesn't portray the Tammy Duckworth for United States Senate campaign in the best light. Clearly...NOT the *worst* campaign rollout (ahem...Mike Frerichs), but not a good start for her campaign. Why would you give her dough when she can't even get this straight?
Rich Miller, over at CapitolFax, labels this fumbled campaign announcement 'somewhat odd' and we have to agree.
Duckworth, will be facing off against Senator Mark Kirk - who is seeking re-election. We'll be watching the Duckworth/Kirk race closely as we hope it will give us as much material as the Frerichs for Treasurer race ever did.

Candidate Facebook Weekend: Bost, Davis, Senger, Kirk, Bansal, Simon, Duckworth, Unes
With 42 Days and 22 hours until the polls open, let's look around Illinois (Facebook) to see what the candidates were up to this weekend.
Starting with Congressional Candidate Mike Bost: He spoke at what looks like an outdoor Candidates Forum in Randolph County. He loves that blue shirt!
Congressman Rodney Davis played Emcee and introduced an actor playing President Abraham Lincoln. Look at that blue dress! Mary Todd never looked so fine!
Congressional candidate Darlene Senger hooked up with US Senator Mark Kirk and State Representative Candidate Krishna Bansal at the Indidan Cultural Festival.
Comptroller candidate Sheila Simon had tea with Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth in Elk Grove Village.
And State Representative Mike Unes had a big turnout for the Friendship Festival Parade in Canton.

Smart Move: Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth Avoids The Mike Frerichs Vortex
Over on Twitter, Candidate for Treasurer Mike Frerichs posted this very nice 'shout-out' (that's the best way we can describe it? Perhaps you'd prefer 'flailed about'??) to Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth on her really wonderful news:
He even @ mentioned her, used a few #hashtags (the kids love those!), but guess what?
Tammy Duckworth has learned the lesson from Ann Callis very well: BEWARE THE FRERICHS VORTEX.
How so, you ask?
Well...see that one lone re-tweet and those 2 favorites? Neither of them are from the Duckworth campaign. They're not going to touch the Frerichs campaign with a ten-foot pole.
They've seen the damage the Frerichs Vortex has caused Ann Callis and her basically-over campaign. Tammy's no dummy. She doesn't want to get brought down by Mike Frerichs and his Vortex.

Newt Gingrich Giveth and He Taketh Away
In the primary for the GOP nomination in the 8th Congressional District two candidates are vying to take on Democrat Tammy Duckworth in the General Election in the fall.
One of the candidates - Manju Goel - yesterday was touting how she was endorsed by Newt Gingrich. But something, has apparently, happened. The endorsement disappeared.
Again, the team at Illinois Review is all over the story.
Anyone out there have the intel on this? Tip us at tipthetruthteam@gmail.com.
But...really...this leads us to feeling a bit like this:

Gingrich's endorsement of Manju Goel, which was on his website this morning, has now mysteriously disappeared. The link (HERE), that had the statement below, now takes you to a blank page. The endorsement news is still on her site, but on the Gingrich side, everything has all but turned to vapor.
