Wait..What?!? Treasurer's Candidate Mike Frerichs Didn't Pay His Property Taxes?!?

We can't believe we were on vacation last week when this big story broke:  Democrat Candidate for Illinois State Treasurer Mike Frerichs was caught not paying his property taxes since all the way back in 2008.  Yeah...you read that right:  he hasn't paid his property tax bills for almost seven years.

From the Associated Press:
A candidate for Illinois treasurer is being asked to explain why he didn't pay more than $1,800 in back taxes and interest to the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Crain's Chicago Business reports that Champaign Democratic state Sen. Michael Frerichs owes the Champaign County Treasurer $1,814 in back taxes and interest for his legislative office. The Champaign treasurer's office says the bills date back to 2008.
Frerichs is bidding for treasurer against Republican Tom Cross of Oswego. Cross says the flap raises issues about Frerich's ability to be an "honest and careful" steward of funds.
Is this real life?  Did a guy running for statewide office - and an office that deals with the State's finances - really think that not paying his property tax bill for 6+ years was really going to be 'no big deal'?

Illinois Women: This Mike Frerichs Guy Must Be Joking, Amirite?

Over on SaukValley.com, they have a piece that you have to read!  It is one woman's take on how electing Mike Frerichs would effect her family.  She speaks for women all across Illinois who say:  "Mike Frerichs must be joking".
When Mike Frerichs, the Democratic candidate for state treasurer, announced he was trying to raise taxes on services in Illinois, I thought at first he must be joking.

Unfortunately, “Tax Hike” Mike Frerichs just can’t control himself when it comes to raising taxes.

Illinois is already one of the highest-taxed states in the nation, and we don’t get a great return on our investment. Now Frerichs wants to raise taxes on services in Illinois.
That means he wants to tax us every time we go to a yoga class or the beauty salon.
The idea of raising taxes when Illinois families are already struggling, and good-paying jobs are leaving our state, is just wrong. I, for one, cannot afford to pay an additional tax to go to yoga or to get my hair done.

Frerichs' License Plate News Leads To Falling Out With Earmuff Investor?

We just got word here at the Illinois Truth Team newsroom that there's been a fracture between Democrat candidate for Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs and one of his strongest supporters Frank.

They were going to go in on a side investment in what Mike believes to be a *VERY* lucrative market:  earmuffs for men.

Turns out, it was over the naming rights of their newly proposed line of "Earmuffs for Men".  Mike Frerichs favored calling them "Bruffs" for "bro-earmuffs", but Frank insisted on "ManMuffs".

It all came to a boil after word has gotten around about Mike Frerichs "Taxman" license plates.

Check out this transcript that was provided to us from someone who was at the breakfast this am:
Mike Frerich:  Hey there, supporter Frank!
Frerichs Donor Frank:  Don't 'supporter Frank' me.  I know what you did.  How dare you propose a Service Tax in Illinois.
MF:  Come on, Frank.  I don't even know what you're talking about?
FDF:  You think I don't know?  *TAXMAN*!!!  To think...I almost split the profits of the ManMuffs with you.
MF:  Bruffs.
FDF:  ManMuffs!
MF:  Bruffs.
FDF:  ManMuffs!
And see how it all went down in this video:

Confirmed: Mike Frerichs *Is* The Taxman (Check Our His License Plates!)

Well, well, well.  Check out what one of our tipsters sent us late last night.  They were leaving the Illinois Education Association meeting in Normal last night when they saw Mike Frerichs get into his car.  They snapped this pic with their iphone.  Check out his license plates!

We imagine it went something like this at the Secretary of State:
Mike Frerichs:  (pulls license plates from envelope) Taxman?  No, No...these don't belong to me. I'm not the Taxman.  I think there's been a mistake.
Clerk:  What's your name again?
MF:  Mike Frerichs.   Candidate for Illinois State Treasurer.
Clerk: (nodding her head) Yes...Mike Frerichs.  You are the Taxman.
MF:  No...I'm not the Taxman
Clerk:  Well, as far as the State of Illinois and voters are concerned, you are.

We Now Know Why There Were Just 4 People @ Mike Frerichs & Ann Callis Event...

National media outlets have caught on to Mike Frerichs and his odd prattling on about his whereabouts on Twitter and Facebook.  Just yesterday multiple media outlets covered the story about how Mike Frerichs thought it was a good idea to post a photo of a 'great' event (that's what he called it) and yet show just four people.

You can read the coverage about the story here on the Truth Team.
You can read the original post showing the four people here on the Truth Team.

But...we have some good news, guys!  We figured out why there were just four people at this "great" event for Ann Callis (Democrat for Congress) and Mike Frerichs (Democrat for Illinois State Treasurer).

Why?  Because we've been told that's all the voters he could round up that would actually support his proposal to put a tax on yoga in Illinois among other things.

Now you know!  Makes sense once you understand what Mike Frerichs is proposing to tax if he's elected, doesn't it?
